AndyW-inuk > "How close does a biker have to be before you see them" - THINK! POSTER - UK Department for Transport campaign
Despite a welcome drop in casualties in 2005 (compared to 2004) bikers - who represent just 1% of road users - still accounted for 18% of fatalities.
AndyW-inuk > The THINK! motorcycle safety campaign encouraging drivers in an urban environment to "THINK! Take longer to look for bikes", through TV and radio ads. At the same time, riders are reminded how to make sure that they are seen via an outdoor poster campaign.

AndyW-inuk > Crash tests (DEKRA \ Wildhaus 2004) - In a collision at an intersection involving a mini van and a motorcycle the critical situation for the bike rider lies in the increasing height of many cars. The bike rider must expect to come away with serious injuries in the event of an impact.

AndyW-inuk > The results of being hit by a lorry whilst riding my MZ Mastiff 660
Doc....I think my leg's broken! Very nasty open fracture of the tibia and fractured tibial plateau - apparently as I was carted off to surgery the surgeon advised my wife that I might be coming out minus the leg :-0 Nearly 18 months on and I'm still reliant on a crutch!!
A momentory lapse in concentration left me vulnerable to the actions of another road user!...I really wasn't planning ahead!!
AndyW-inuk > A little metalwork to hold the bits together that used to be my tibia! Taylor Spatial Frame, an adjustable (see the struts adjustable in mm increments) Ilizarov circular frame / external fixator. I had this fixed ('bolts' into and wires through my tibia) to my leg for 14 months followed by 10 weeks in plaster.....now nearly 18 months since the crash and I'm still struggling to hobble around with the aid of a crutch. Probably 6 months or so more physiotherapy to go (3 times a week) and the possibility of more surgery in the future. I won't mention the pain I've experienced!........RIDE SAFE!
